What happens when you contact Miller Angles for a project ~

Photography  ~

Let’s face facts.  Nearly everybody and their uncle (aunt, cousin, grandpa, sister, brother, niece — you name the relative; you get the picture !) has a digital camera or camera phone these days.  Suddenly, there are “Ansel Adamses” everywhere.  A big difference, and not the only difference, is that the real Ansel Adams did not shoot anything and everything in sight with no “planning aforethought!”    Most of the time, he only made one shot of his subject, and it turned out beautifully!  Of course, he was using film and didn’t want to waste it, but he also didn’t want to waste his talents and his reputation.  He knew how to study his subject to produce the best possibility of desired results — without a lot of manipulation to his finished product.

So how can you expect Maury Miller and Miller Angles to approach your project?

First, Maury Miller will meet with the client to discuss what the client’s photographic needs are.  How does the client want to use the photography?  Where does the client want to use the photography?  There are uses other that just media print and advertising.  Miller Angles interviews with the client to determine this, pose possibilities, and develop a plan of action.

Before shooting architectural images, Maury likes to start by scouting the site and making notes and drawings as to the declination of the sun and to time of day that is best to make the photographs.  He will also get an idea of the best “angles” for the shots.  (After all, he is Miller Angles ...)  Then he will be able to guesstimate the amount of time needed to complete the project (weather cooperating, of course!).

Maury’s scouting and preplanning works to create desired results for both the client and Maury.  In fact, the best compliment Maury receives from architects is:

“That’s amazing,  Your photos match our architectural renderings !”

This same quote came from Mitch Barnett and Ron Nemetz.

The “amazing” part was that Maury had not seen their renderings prior to the shoots !

When one takes the time to get the “feel and spirit of the place,” good results can happen.

Writing  ~

Who wants to buy a vowel?

Nearly everyone is texting, tweeting, twitting (?).  Many even perform these feats of poor composition while driving — a task that most don’t do well when fully focused on the road ahead, much less distracted !  But I digress . . .

If you would like copy for your ads, or newsletters, or whatever the heck you need written, to actually have all the necessary vowels — along with consonants — Miller Angles actually knows how to use them and where they belong.  And if we don’t, we’ll look it up in the Harbrace Handbook !!  (What’s a Harbrace Handbook?  If you’re asking that question, you really do need Miller Angles . . . )

We will meet with the client and discuss what they need written — is it a “one time” thing, or is it an ongoing thing like a newsletter?

What “style” does the client want to present to the public? Humorous? Formal?  Serious?  ?  Story like?  Thought provoking?  Or just plain informative?

Whatever “style” the client wants, we always strive to make it interesting and not boring.  Who wants to read boring?

Rates are billed on a per hour or flat rate basis.  Rates depend upon the extent of the assignment.

As all jobs are different, quotes will be made after consultation.  One-third of fee will be due up front, with the balance paid at negotiable checkpoints.

Design  ~

If your stuff looks bad, or tacky (and you don’t like tacky),  Miller Angles will help you change that.

We will meet with you and discuss the kind of image you want to portray.  It’s obvious that a plumber would not want to portray the same image as a pet groomer, even though both may have to deal with water from various sources !

Rates depend on the extent and complexity of the assignment.
